High interest means that you’re going to have to paned a lot more time taking away the debt than if you had lower balances. Could you possibly negotiate with the credit card companies and other creditors?
If they feel that you’re a risk for bankruptcy, you might be surprised at how willing they are to work things out with you. You might be surprised to find out that things really aren’t as bleak as you might imagine. Yes, there are plenty of newspaper articles out there about people who cannot pay their bills, about people who are unemployed, about people that have a stack of bills that they wish they could pay. Can you outsource and get people working in your business so you don’t have to? It’s going to be up to you.
What about switching jobs? If you have always wanted to work in a different field that you find rewarding, then this is also a financial goal. You need to make sure that the new field can still support your bills and all of the other things that you want to save up for.
Speaking of savings, have you started an emergency savings account? That’s something that a lot of people don’t really think about. Generally speaking, most of the “emergencies” that come up in life are really just things that people knew were coming, but they just didn’t plan for. Car registration is considered by many to be an emergency, but it’s something that you really do know about. Why would it be an emergency? It happens at the same time every year! You need to make sure that you’re not skipping over these things in any way, shape, or form.
