Global Collapse – Perhaps Not, But Here’s Three Things You Need to Do Anyway
One of the biggest concerns that people have right now as they think about the global economy is a global collapse. That means that governments would cave in, money would cease to flow properly, and the average citizen would have a mountain of problems. Just how do you take care of your family when you don’t have a job or any savings to speak of? That would be a disaster of massive proportions. However, we don’t think about that around here. We prefer to take a more optimistic approach. After all, it’s said that every storm cloud eventually runs out of rain. This means that there’s always a chance to get things turned around for the better.
Does that mean that you’re off the hook in terms of preparing financially for the worst of things? Not at all. Here’s the three things that you need to make sure that you’re taking care of before anything else:
1. Big Time Savings
Savings is one of the top things that you should be working on. Along with savings comes your credit. No, we don’t expect that the credit card game will play into what happens if the economy collapses. Still, it’s never a bad idea to make sure that you’re getting out of debt. Truthfully speaking, debt just slows you down. It doesn’t let you accomplish anything. It doesn’t let you move forward in a way that’s productive. It’s going to end up taking your future away from you when you least expect it. Even though you probably want to continue buying things on credit, this is not a good idea. Basically, you’re buying things with other people’s money because you don’t have the money yourself. This is not a bad idea for emergency purchases, because you don’t have a choice. But trust us, new high heels are not an emergency. A spa trip with your girlfriends is not an emergency. A shiny new toolbox filled with the latest and greatest tools is not an emergency when you already have one at home.
2. Stockpile
If you’ve got your savings set up, you will definitely need to start stockpiling supplies that you’ll need. When the worst happens, the first thing that people do is try to hit the supermarket while they still can. That means that supplies are going to be pretty low. If the store cannot get a new supply truck in time, things can get pretty scarce. You’re better off building a stockpile a little bit at a time until you have absolutely what you need.
3. Alternative Energy
There’s nothing wrong with looking into alternative energy. Even if you’re not ready to fully go off the grid, there should be an emphasis on your energy consumption. Trying to lower your footprint is really a good idea. Instead of worrying about how you’re going to pay those high energy bills, you could be looking at getting more efficient appliances in your home.
Overall, there are plenty of different choices out there to pursue if you’re really concerned that the world as we know it is going to come to an end. From famine to civil war to everything else, many worry that our future is a grim one. But we believe that if you can get a few moments of peace, preparing on your family’s terms is better than nothing.
